Victor Wooten
Victor Lemonte Wooten is a highly-respected electric bass player
and is regarded by many of his peers as one of the finest players
to emerge in the 1990s. His brother taught him to play bass at age
three, and by age five he could hold simple bass lines and play
gigs. He is bass player for Béla Fleck and the Flecktones who
became famous by playing a mixture of jazz, funk, and bluegrass,
and they are one of the most stylistically free-swinging bands of
the modern era. Wooten developed many new fingering
techniques for the bass that were essentially undiscovered before
his time.*
